Weeks 12 & 13
The last two weeks have passed by uneventful. Frank took a photo of my profile last night, and I was actually surprised by just how far I’d popped out!! It would seem that the opinions differ on what size baby is … some say a lime, some say a peach … I say that’s quite […]

Weeks 10 & 11
I’ve been really bad about keeping on top of the updates, but these last two weeks have been relatively uneventful. The nausea has subsided, and though I’m still getting over my cold/cough, I’ve been feeling fairly good. In two months, we’ll know how many and what gender. Though there’s been some joking about multiples, and […]

Week 9 – Grape, olive, or peppermint?
It’s been a long week. The fatigue still is hitting me hard, but the nausea seems to have subsided.

Week 8
I received an email this morning saying that I was already 20% of the way to my delivery date! You what?!

And the elasticated waistlines say hello!
I think most women feel a bit bloaty, or maybe I should say ‘puffy’ around the abdomen, in the week before they are due to menstruate … of course this time, there’s been no relief for me!!

Week 6
Baby is working hard this week. It will triple in size. Its heart should start beating this week. Initial circulation starts off in the mesoderm, yolk sac and the linning of the placenta. By the middle of this week the aorta will have started to form in the baby’s heart. Another major development this week […]

The battle between home and hospital
I’ve felt somewhat disheartened over the past few days. It seems that most people to whom I mention the concept of a home birth without an attending physician are nothing short of horrified!!

How I’m feeling
It’s been a really odd couple of weeks. I’ve had spasmodic cramps, some light-headedness, very minor and fleeting nausea, and if I’ve allowed myself to relax, I’ve been out like a light! As long as I’ve been on the go, the fatigue hasn’t really set in, but if I stop, that’s the end! Overall, I’ve […]

Week 5
Baby hasn’t grown much since last week. It’s about 1/16th of an inch. Three layers are developing, which will later make up all of the baby’s organs and tissues. The heart, brain, spinal cord, muscle and bones are beginning to develop, along with the placenta, which will nourish the baby, and the amniotic sac, which […]

All about conception
I received a message this morning from a friend who had read this blog, and pointed out that I seemed so sure that I would get pregnant. She asked how I knew, when some couples would struggle and struggle to conceive. I wrote a fairly lengthy reply, and felt it would be useful to post […]
